Digital Gaming is so much more than just computer games. With the appearance of digital toys, digital objects have found their way into children's rooms. Playing games has significant meaning for the development of children, thus, also playing in digital environments. The 13th Interdisciplinary Conference of the JFF examines the consequences and questions in relation to this digital change:

  • What does this change signify for the world of children's game?
  • How does this development change the creative possibilities of children or educators?
  • Is the concern that digital change negatively impacts creativity a valid one?
  • What educational potential lies in analogue and digital gaming?
Dr. Claudia Lampert will represent the Hans-Bredow-Institut with a talk on "Digitale Spielsachen für die „Kleinen“ – Spielmittel oder -ware? [Digital Toys for Kids – Playing Tools or Toys?]“.

The programme unites cultural, educational and media studies perspectives and examines changes in gaming and children's gaming. Details on the programme can be found on the conference blog.
