Abstract
Algorithmic recommendation systems characterise our everyday use of the Internet. Be it Google or Amazon, Facebook or YouTube, Spotify or Netflix: they all combine innovative algorithms with comprehensive databases to filter information and content of all kinds and present it to us in tailor-made, mostly personalised recommendations, hit lists or streams. In this way, they provide orientation in the flood of information that has long since become unmanageable for the individual and thus shape the expectations that users also have of other offers and platforms - such as the public service media libraries.
