Mag. Herwig Mitter

Guest Researcher at the institute from October until December 2019

Mag. Herwig Mitter is university assistant (prae doc) at the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Vienna. From October to December 2019, he will be guest researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut where he examines how media freedom within the ECHR relates to Internet intermediaries, in particular whether and to what extent they are protected or obliged by them.

In his dissertation project, he is researching to what extent mass media pluralism is guaranteed in Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and in Austrian Constitutional Law.
 
Herwig Mitter studied law at the University of Vienna. Thereafter, he worked for several years as a research assistant at the Austrian Administrative Court, where he also dealt with media law cases.
