Her research interests focus on the question of how people in different social contexts influence processes of social cohesion through their use of media and news. She researches these topics in the sub-project\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hans-bredow-institut.de\/en\/projects\/media-use-and-social-cohesion\" data-cke-saved-href=\"\/en\/projects\/media-use-and-social-cohesion\">Media Use and Social Cohesion<\/a> as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/hans-bredow-institut.de\/en\/projects\/research-institute-social-cohesion-fgz\" data-cke-saved-href=\"\/en\/projects\/research-institute-social-cohesion-fgz\">Research Institute Social Cohesion<\/a> (RISC).<\/p>\n<p>At the HBI, she has already been working since 2016 as a student assistant for the <a href=\"https:\/\/hans-bredow-institut.de\/en\/research\/research-programmes\/transformation-of-public-communication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"\/en\/research\/research-programmes\/transformation-of-public-communication\">research programme 1 &#8220;Transformation of Public Communication &#8211; Journalistic and Intermediary Functions in the Process of Opinion Formation&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hans-bredow-institut.de\/en\/staff\/wiebke-loosen\" data-cke-saved-href=\"\/en\/staff\/wiebke-loosen\">Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hannah Immler studied sociology at Universit\u00e4t Hamburg and the Universitetet i Oslo. During her studies she focused on alternative news media and their users.
