In the first edition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiig.de\/en\/jeanette-hofmann\/\">Prof. Dr. Jeanette Hofmann <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/leibniz-hbi.de\/en\/employee\/matthias-c-kettemann\/\">Prof. Dr. Matthias C. Kettemann<\/a> take a look at Mark Zuckerberg&#8217;s decision to end cooperation with external fact checkers in the US for all meta-platforms (Facebook, Instagram &amp; Threads) and instead rely on \u201cCommunity Notes\u201d. This step has the potential to fundamentally change the dissemination of information: instead of traditional fact-checking, users themselves are now to be responsible for moderating content. Critics fear an increase in disinformation and manipulation, while Meta defends the approach as a way to strengthen freedom of expression and user control.<\/p>\n<p>How do these changes affect the quality of information on Facebook and Instagram? What measures is Meta planning to prevent abuse? Are targeted users now left unprotected?<\/p>\n<p>Moderator: <a href=\"https:\/\/leibniz-hbi.de\/en\/employee\/katharina-mosene\/\">Katharina Mosene<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The event is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/leibniz-hbi.de\/en\/hbi-projects\/dsa-research-network\/\">DSA Research Network<\/a> project funded by the Mercator Foundation.
