About the Talk<\/h2>\n
Very large online services pose particular risks due to their enormous reach, such as the potential impact on the mental health of users or the influence on opinion formation. The Digital Services Act (DSA) addresses these risks in Article 34 ff. DSA, which establishes a specific set of obligations for providers of such services. The DSA primarily relies on regulatory control to enforce these requirements, but Article 54 DSA also opens up civil law remedies for users. In her presentation, Katharina Wunner will examine whether Article 54 of the DSA can effectively promote a safe, predictable, and trustworthy online environment, particularly with regard to very large online services.<\/p>\n
About the Speaker<\/h2>\n
Dr. Katharina Wunner<\/a>\u00a0is an academic advisor at the Chair of Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law, and Business Law at the University of Bayreuth. She earned her doctorate with a thesis on contractual data access rights and is a member of the GRUR expert committee on data law, among other affiliations. Dr. Wunner is currently working on her habilitation thesis, which focuses on co-creations in general civil law and intellectual property law.
