As part of the workshop, “I Prompt the World to Be the Way I Want It to Be: Childhood and Young People Under the Influence of Artificial Intelligence,” Federal Minister for Family Affairs Dr. Karin Prien, Dr. Stephan Dreyer<\/a>, and others will discuss how to support children and young people in a needs-oriented and age-appropriate manner as they grow up with artificial intelligence. Program<\/h2>\n

The rapid pace at which artificial intelligence (AI) is permeating our everyday digital lives leaves little time for developing usage skills and protection strategies. For young people, this means that while AI can make digital offerings more entertaining, educational, and helpful, it also introduces new risks and amplifies existing ones. This presents an increasing challenge for governments, businesses, and civil society to protect and support children and young adults as they grow up in a digital world. How can we ensure equal measures of participation and protection? How can we empower young people to competently use rapidly evolving technologies?<\/p>\n

Whether it’s \u201csexual violence and harassment in the digital space,\u201d \u201cthreats to democracy,\u201d or \u201closs of control in digital environments,\u201d the challenges posed by AI are present in all three focus areas of the \u201cFuture Workshop\u201d organized by the Federal Center for Children and Youth Media Protection (BzKJ). It is also evident that the complexity of the challenges facing child and youth media protection requires a community of responsibility that works with young people to establish a stable network of interdisciplinary expertise and collaborate effectively, more than ever before. That is why the cross-focus symposium will first provide current expert input on AI and then facilitate direct exchange of perspectives, experiences, and actionable solutions.<\/p>\n

These questions, among others, will be addressed in a panel discussion with young people, a world caf\u00e9 with all participants, and an interdisciplinary closing panel.<\/p>\n

  • What structures for prevention and intervention are needed to support children and young people in their digital participation, which should be as carefree as possible?<\/li>\n
  • How can we foster self-efficacy and self-esteem in children and young people in the digital space?<\/li>\n
  • Considering persistent and emerging risks and the associated need for protection, how can we foster a positive attitude toward media and ensure the right to digital participation?<\/li>\n
  • What support do children and young people need when dealing with AI-generated risks? What support do caregivers and educational professionals need to empower children and young people?<\/li>\n
  • Which protective and empowering measures are helpful in countering AI-generated risks?
