The event, which is organised by Neue deutsche Medienmacher*innen, Netzwerk Recherche and Reporters Without Borders, takes place as part of Hamburg’s Press Freedom Week. The action week is an initiative that has been established by the K\u00f6rber Foundation and the ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS.<\/p>\n

Disinformation is rampant on social media. Targeted attacks on critical reporting are discrediting the work of journalists, and these attacks are not only carried out by anonymous internet trolls, but also by state actors. At the same time, citizens are criticising the way polarising issues are handled and speaking of a loss of trust in traditional media.
