Freedom of Expression?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The landscape of freedom of expression has fundamentally changed since the adoption of the Basic Law. While only a few media-savvy individuals could publicly express themselves back then, digital platforms today give virtually anyone access to a potential audience of millions. At the same time, many people feel that their freedom of expression is under threat.<\/p>\n<p>But what exactly does freedom of expression encompass\u2014and what does it not? Where is the term being misused? What legal boundaries exist? What threats are observed? What consequences does this have for society and the media?<\/p>\n<p>Discussing these issues are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/leibniz-hbi.de\/en\/employee\/tobias-mast\/\">Dr. Tobias Mast<\/a>, Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI)<\/li>\n<li>Karina Hesse, long-time in-house legal counsel at Axel Springer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Moderator: <strong>Stefan Endter<\/strong>, Managing Director of DJV Nord<\/p>\n<p>The event &#8220;Meinungsfreiheit. Meinungsfreiheit?&#8221; [Freedom of Expression. Freedom of Expression?] will be held in German.<\/p>\n<p>This event is being held in cooperation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buecherhallen.de\/\">B\u00fccherhallen Hamburg<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.djv.de\/der-djv\/information-in-english\/\">Deutscher Journalisten-Verband Nord<\/a> [German Journalists&#8217; Association North] as part of the nationwide Week of Freedom of Expression.
