{"id":11956,"date":"2026-10-29T09:42:29","date_gmt":"2026-10-29T08:42:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leibniz-hbi.de\/?post_type=hbi-news&#038;p=11956"},"modified":"2026-10-29T15:29:51","modified_gmt":"2026-10-29T14:29:51","slug":"congratulations-vincent-hofmann-garcia","status":"publish","type":"hbi-news","link":"https:\/\/leibniz-hbi.de\/en\/hbi-news\/congratulations-vincent-hofmann-garcia\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations, Vincent Hofmann Garcia!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vincent Hofmann Garcia has successfully defended his dissertation on the topic \u201cDiversity in Broadcasting\u2014Concept and Conceptions of a Key Constitutional Term.\u201d We extend our warmest congratulations!<\/p>\n<p>The dissertation was supervised by <a href=\"https:\/\/leibniz-hbi.de\/en\/employee\/wolfgang-schulz-2\/\">Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schulz<\/a> and Prof. Dr. Marion Albers; the defense took place on October 28, 2026, at the HBI.<\/p>\n<p>In his dissertation, Vincent Hofmann Garcia examines how the Federal Constitutional Court applies the concept of diversity to its broadcasting decisions. Alongside a thorough analysis of the court\u2019s rulings, the dissertation builds upon the interdisciplinary tradition of the HBI by contrasting the court\u2019s legal reasoning with selected communication studies theories to critically examine the underlying assumptions about how public communication functions.<\/p>\n<p>Vincent Hofmann Garcia has been a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) since June 2021.
