The joint funding of the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) by the federal government and the L\u00e4nder is to be continued. This was recommended to the federal government and the L\u00e4nder by the Senate of the Leibniz Association on 26 November 2020, following the completion of the regular scientific evaluation. At regular intervals, but at least every seven years, the federal government and the L\u00e4nder review whether the conditions for the joint funding of a Leibniz institution are still met.<\/p>\n
Internationally recognised experts evaluate the performance and structures of each institution. Only persons with no affiliation to Leibniz institutions are included in the panels involved in the evaluation and assessment.<\/p>\n
The research and scientific infrastructure facilities that have joined together to form the Leibniz Association are jointly funded by the federal and state governments outside of a university because of their supraregional significance and a national scientific policy interest. At regular intervals, but at least every seven years, the federal and state governments review whether the conditions for joint funding of a Leibniz institution are still met.<\/p>\n
The Joint Science Conference’s review is regularly based on an independent evaluation by the Leibniz Association’s Senate. The Senate’s statements are prepared by the Senate Evaluation Committee. To evaluate a facility, the committee sets up evaluation groups with independent experts in the relevant field.<\/p>\n
