In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencemediacenter.de\/angebote\/wirkung-sozialer-medien-im-wahlkampf-25001#anlass\">virtual press meeting held in German by the Science Media Center<\/a> on 8 January, <a href=\"https:\/\/leibniz-hbi.de\/en\/employee\/judith-moeller\/\">Prof. Dr. Judith M\u00f6ller<\/a> from the HBI was joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-bamberg.de\/en\/digitalpolitics\/team\/prof-dr-andreas-jungherr\/\">Prof. Dr. Andreas Jungherr<\/a> (University of Bamberg) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phil.uni-mannheim.de\/en\/institute-for-media-and-comm\/sub-depts\/senior-researchers-with-tenure\/dr-philipp-mueller\/\">Dr. Philipp M\u00fcller<\/a> (University of Mannheim). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencemediacenter.de\/das-smc\/team\/bastian-zimmermann-662901c20efb5ceb7dff8c46\">Bastian Zimmermann<\/a> from the Science Media Center moderated the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Judith M\u00f6ller emphasized that social media offer both political actors and their supporters many advantages over traditional media. These include better networking, the possibility of easy participation, the independent creation of content and its personalization.<\/p>\n<p>Citizens&#8217; voting decisions, in turn, depend on a great many factors, according to Judith M\u00f6ller. The share of the voting decision for which media in general or social media in particular are <em>solely<\/em> responsible is small.
