In an article published in the journal AfP 6\/2024<\/a>, Tobias Mast<\/a> discusses state media treaties in a climate of polarized and fundamentally opposing politics.<\/p>\n

\"CoverThe German broadcasting and media system is a highly complex political and legal construct. It only functions in terms of stability and change as long as all stakeholders are willing and able to participate in it. As a policy area that often requires nationwide solutions but remains under state jurisdiction, constant coordination is necessary, which creates potential for disruption by incapable or malicious actors. Previously criticized as cumbersome, the system is now proving highly vulnerable under changed government conditions and the rise of right-wing populist forces.<\/p>\n
