! The event is postponed to 12 May 2025 !

PD Dr. Jan-Hinrik Schmidt has been invited by the Kreisjugendring Stormarn e.V. to give a presentation on how opinions are formed in digital spaces, how social cohesion is changing and where we are challenged as individuals and as a society. He will also provide insights into the mechanisms behind “making and consuming news”. The presentation “Fakten, Fakes und Feeds” [Facts, Fakes and Feeds] will be held in German.

Fake news, deepfakes and filter bubbles influence not only young people but also adults – especially in the election year of 2025. New actors and new modes of communication are emerging alongside journalism, and platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Twitter/X promise to allow us to participate in social debates and contribute our own opinions. But how can we keep track of the flood of information and sources and develop a deep trust in the media? Media literacy is the key: it lays the foundation for education, critical thinking and a reflective approach to news.
