The Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) in Hamburg invites applications for the following position starting April 1, 2025: Student assistant (m/f/d) in the field of law, limited to September 30, 2025 | monthly working hours by arrangement 35-80 hours | place of work Hamburg
The remuneration is based on the rates of Universität Hamburg and amounts to 13.98 EUR/hour for student assistants (in the bachelor’s program) and 16.05 EUR/hour for research assistants (in the master’s program) in the summer semester of 2025.
The internationally renowned Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut in Hamburg (HBI) conducts high-level research on media transformation and the associated structural changes in public communication. Combining fundamental and applied research, HBI operates in an interdisciplinary and independent manner, generating knowledge relevant to politics, business, and civil society. The institute stands out for its unique combination of social science, communication science, and legal regulatory research, with an increasing emphasis on computer science.
Your Responsibilities
The Leibniz Institute for Media Research is working on various legal projects that focus, among other things, on questions of platform communication and media law.
You will support these projects by:
- Researching literature and recording relevant studies
- Working in empirical phases
- Preparing reports, presentations and publications
- Participating in internal meetings
- Supporting the management team (Prof. Kettemann/Dr. Mast/Prof. Schulz)
Which qualifications do you need?
- Valid enrollment at a German university in the field of law
- Interest in communication law issues
- Involvement in a research-oriented team
