Anna von Garmissen is participating in this year’s Network Research Annual Conference. She will present the results of the largest survey to date of peripheral media actors in German-speaking countries. The study focuses on the self-image, goals, and practices of bloggers, influencers, magazine founders, and NGO communicators. She will discuss the findings on the panel “Recherchieren für eine NGO – Zwischen Watchdog und Campaigning” [Researching for an NGO – Between Watchdog and Campaigning] with Martin Reyher, abgeordnetenwatch.de, and Vera Deleja-Hotko, FragDenStaat. The study was conducted as part of the German sub-study of the world’s largest journalism study, “Worlds of Journalism.”
Moderator: Thomas Schnedler, Netzwerk Recherche
Information about the Panel
Traditional journalism is now only part of our media repertoire: more and more actors outside the classic newsrooms are attracting our attention. With new formats and ideas, they fill information gaps, create counter-publics, or promote their convictions and (own) brands. How do “peripheral actors” see themselves and their journalistic role? What influence do they have on traditional journalism? And what responsibility do they bear in our fragmented opinion society?
