The Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) in Hamburg is looking to fill the following position as soon as possible: Human Resources Officer (m/f/d)
Initially limited to 2 years with the option of subsequent permanent employment, pay grade 9a/b TV-L | Full-time | Location: Hamburg
The Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) in Hamburg is one of the leading institutes in Europe in its field. In 2019, it was accepted into the renowned Leibniz Association due to its scientific quality, structural relevance to the scientific system, and supraregional significance. The HBI investigates media change and the associated structural changes in public communication. It combines basic research and knowledge transfer research with a cross-media, interdisciplinary, and independent scientific perspective.
Tasks
- Personnel administration throughout the entire employee lifecycle
- Independent execution of payroll accounting using DATEV LODAS
- Ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and legal requirements
- Checking travel expense reports
- Preparing contract documents and references
- Monitoring deadlines
- Digital and analog management of personnel files
- Supporting time recording, managing attendance and absences
- Advising our employees on all personnel-related issues
- Correspondence with authorities, social security institutions, and health insurance companies
- Certification and registration
- Application management
Profile
What we expect from you:
- A completed training program in a commercial or administrative profession or comparable qualification in the field of human resources
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the aforementioned area of responsibility
- Proficiency in the application of tax and social security law
- User knowledge of DATEV LODAS or a comparable accounting system
- Experience in focusing and accounting for the pay of students
- Confidence in checking travel expense reports.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Fluent in written and spoken German
- Good in written and spoken English
- Reliability, independent and structured way of working, and confident manner.
- Initiative, flexibility, and ability to work in a team.
The following would also be an advantage:
- Knowledge of collective bargaining law (TV-L)
- Knowledge of the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG)
- Experience in applying German labor laws
- Familiarity with the Hamburg Travel Expense Act (HmbRKG)
- User knowledge of the HR management system Personio
- Interest in working on new HR topics and projects
- Joy and experience in recruiting new employees
