As part of the German-Polish Forum 2025 in Berlin, Prof. Dr. Judith Möller will speak on the panel “Politics in the Service of the Media, Media in the Service of Politics”.
Alongside Peter Frey, former editor-in-chief of ZDF; Christiane Hoffmann, the first deputy government spokesperson until May 2025; and Polish journalists Magdalena and Tomasz Lejman, Judith Möller will discuss the role of social media in political communication.
From the Event Description
Social media is increasingly taking over the role of traditional media and opening up completely new possibilities for manipulating recipients and users. During the last US election campaign, we saw an unprecedented rapprochement between politics and tech giants. But what does the big tech industry expect in return from politics?
Media outlets are fighting for clicks and forming strategic alliances with those currently in power. Who is manipulating whom? Will the removal of restrictions on new technologies, including artificial intelligence, permanently change the rules of the game between politics and the media? What are the positions of Germany, Poland, and the European Union on this issue?
