Is It (Still) Journalism?

  • Date: 31.01.26
  • Location: Berlin
  • Time: 12:45 h

Anna von Garmissen will present the findings of the largest survey to date of “peripheral media actors” in German-speaking countries at the Journalism Day of the German Union of Journalists (dju). The study focuses on the self-image, goals, and practices of media professionals working outside of traditional newsrooms. The study was part of the German sub-study of the world’s largest journalism study, “Worlds of Journalism.”

In her presentation, titled “Influencer*innen, Content Creators, Gründer*innen: Ist das (noch) Journalismus?” [Influencers, Content Creators, Founders: Is This (Still) Journalism?], Anna von Garmissen explores what motivates “peripheral” media actors, how they differ from the journalistic core, and their impact on the media system.

The presentation as well as the event will be held in German.
