The Social Media Observatory (SMO) at the Hamburg section of the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC) is hosting a starter workshop on TikTok. The workshop will be held online and is intended for two types of participants: those interested in incorporating computational social science (CSS), particularly in the context of social media, into their research but have limited experience with it, and those interested in conducting qualitative research on TikTok.
Workshop Content
The content and dynamics of the social media platform TikTok are highly relevant to a wide range of political and social science issues. However, the available data must be made usable for this purpose. This two-day workshop introduces scientific work with TikTok data.
On the first day, four experts will present their research projects based on TikTok data collected and evaluated using computational methods. The second day will demonstrate the practical application of these tools and methods for data collection and evaluation.
The event will be held in German.
