Christian Ollig Nominated for German Study Prize

As one of 31 doctoral graduates from 687 submissions, Dr. Christian Ollig has been nominated for the German Study Prize awarded by the Körber Foundation. On 2 July 2025, he presented his work in the final round in Berlin.

In his doctoral thesis on media law, “EU Platform Regulation: Global Gold Standard for the Protection of Fundamental Rights in the Digital Age?”, Christian Ollig examined who sets the standards for public communication in the digital space.

He developed an innovative understanding, arguing that platform companies are directly bound by the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union via a reference in the Digital Services Act (DSA). In doing so, he offers a fresh perspective on critical issues in platform regulation.
