Dr. Claudia Lampert will be part of the expert commission appointed by the German federal government to examine the steps necessary for effective protection of children and young people in the media from fall 2025 onwards.
Objective
The commission will develop a strategy for “Protecting Children and Young People in the Digital World.” The commission will formulate specific recommendations for the federal government, the states, and civil society to take action. The commission will address the conditions necessary for a safe digital environment for children and young people, the health consequences of media consumption, and ways to strengthen media literacy among children, young people, parents, and professionals.
The federal states participate in the commission’s work through their respective advisory boards. Additionally, the Independent Federal Commissioner for Child Sexual Abuse Issues (UBSKM), the Commissioner of the Federal Government for Drug and Addiction Policy, and the Commissioner for Culture and the Media participate as observers. Experts from relevant disciplines, civil society representatives, and the media authorities of the federal states are also involved through various participation formats. Active youth participation is also planned.
The commission consists of sixteen experts and two chairpersons from academia and professional practice, thus combining interdisciplinary skills and expertise.
