Diversity and equal opportunities are important to the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans Bredow Institute (HBI). The Institute aims to promote and value diversity at the Institute and to utilize the resulting potential.
The institute wants to ensure that all employees can combine family and career in the best possible way. However, other individual phases of life should also be taken into account in the personnel policy. After all, not only families with children, but also family carers have to reconcile care and nursing with their professional activities.
After completing an auditing and dialog process, the institute’s family-friendliness was confirmed with the certificate “audit berufundfamilie”. The certificate is regarded as a seal of quality for the sustainable design of a strategic family and life-phase-conscious personnel policy and family-friendly working conditions.
The Leibniz Institute for Media Research’s family-friendly working structures already include flexible working hours, a flexible place of work, a wide range of opportunities for professional training and personal development, as well as a good work-life balance. Further plans include the introduction of a cooperative company health management system, the optimization of communication systems, the establishment of a parent-child room, bicycles for all employees, the introduction of qualified employee appraisals and management development.
Post-docs
The Institute has developed various career paths for senior researchers with a doctorate, which are promoted in regular discussions with those concerned.
PhD students
In addition to supervising doctoral projects, the HBI supports doctoral candidates in scientific publishing, the organization of research projects and scientific communication. We are delighted to welcome researchers from Germany and abroad! Numerous guest researchers from all over the world have visited the HBI over the years. We therefore know that the exchange with guests, some of whom come from other research traditions, proves to be very rewarding and can give the guests and the institute fruitful new impulses.
