Leonie Wunderlich has successfully defended her dissertation on “Information-Related Practices of Young People in the Hybrid Media System.” Congratulations to her!
The cumulative dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr. Katharina Kleinen-von Königslöw and Prof. Dr. Uwe Hasebrink, and the defense took place on the 27th of May 2025 at the library of the HBI, chaired by Prof. Dr. Judith Möller.
Leonie Wunderlich has been working as a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) since July 2020 in Research Program 1, “Transformation of Public Communication – Journalistic and Intermediary Functions in the Process of Opinion Formation.”dung“.
Her research interest lies in the use of media and news in digital media environments. She is working on the project “Use the News – News Usage and News Literacy in the Digital Age”, which examines how people in Germany keep themselves informed and what the state of news competence is, especially among the population under the age of 30. Currently, she is investigating the role of (non-)journalistic actors in the information behavior of young people in the context of the #UseTheNews project.
