Matthias C. Kettemann New Chairman of the First Senate of the Austrian Press Council

Matthias C. Kettemann, a Professor of Innovation, Theory, and Philosophy of Law at the University of Innsbruck, and the Head of Program Area 2, “Communication Structures and Their Governance,” at the HBI, was unanimously elected as the Chair of the First Senate of the Austrian Press Council. The Press Council is the Austrian press’s self-regulatory body, ensuring editorial quality and guaranteeing freedom of the press.

Matthias C. Kettemann looks forward to working with Senate 1: “From school newspapers to faculty newspapers, journalism has always fascinated me. As an instrument of self-regulation, the Press Council plays a decisive role in ensuring the high quality of reporting in Austria’s media. Imagine if we had something like this for online media and communication in digital services!”
