Government Public Relations in New Media

The democratic legitimacy of government public relations has been a topic of discussion in academic literature and constitutional jurisprudence for years. Dr. Tobias Mast reviews a recently published dissertation on the subject by Florian Maier — Government Public Relations in New Media: An “Update” on Its Boundaries’ — and elaborates on the untapped potential of interdisciplinary legal scholarship in relation to the empirical assumptions commonly accepted as fact.

The review was published in German in the journal “Archiv des Öffentlichen Rechts” [Archive of Public Law] (AöR 151/2026). You can purchase the law journal here.
