When asked by the quiz organizers what research means to him personally, Hans-Ulrich Wagner replied: “Through my projects, I try to provide answers to socially relevant questions. Using scientific methods generates evidence-based knowledge for our media society. I specifically explore why media are the way they are, how they came to be, and if they could function differently—and perhaps better. After all, the current state of affairs is merely an alleged endpoint of history. Above all, however, it is the starting point for the future, which must be shaped by society.”
