AI Suggestion Box at re:publica

  • Date: 18.05.26

  • Time: 10:00 h

This year’s re:publica is themed “Never Gonna Give You Up.” As part of the digital conference, Antonia Eichenauer and Jonah Wermter are presenting an AI suggestion box for concerns related to journalism.

The AI Suggestion Box as an Artistic-Scientific Intervention

There are quite a few concerns and fears about how conversational AI is used in journalism. To address these concerns, the team behind the project “Journalism: The Automation of News and Journalistic Autonomy” has adopted a tried-and-true tool — the suggestion box. Visitors at the re:publica can drop their concerns into the colorful box. The team is collecting the concerns of journalists and the uncertainties of the audience.

Through this artistic-scientific intervention, the team hopes to learn more about the worries, fears, and perhaps also the frustration and anger of those involved. To this end, they have prepared letters in which participants indicate whether they are practitioners or audience members. On the other hand, they are opening up a space for debates about journalism with AI.

More information is available in the announcement (available only in German).
