Fenja De Silva-Schmidt has been a member of the Science Communication Team at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) since June 2026. She coordinates the Hamburg Section of the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC) and is responsible for the research transfer.
Previously, she led the Science Communication project at the Hamburg Research Academy, where she developed and coordinated training programs and support services on science communication for doctoral students and postdocs. She also produced a podcast and managed various social media channels.
Earlier in her academic career, Fenja earned her Ph.D. in climate change communication at the Hamburg Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society”.
She developed an interest in research and science communication while pursuing her Master of Arts in Journalism and Communication Studies at the University of Hamburg and working as a student research assistant at the Hans-Bredow-Institut.
