Fenja De Silva-Schmidt is a communication scientist and has been coordinating the Hamburg office of the Research Institute for Social Cohesion since June 2026. She is also responsible for science communication.
Previously, she led the research communication project at the Hamburg Research Academy. There, she developed and coordinated training programs and support on science communication for doctoral researchers and postdocs, produced a podcast, and managed different social media channels.
Earlier in her academic career, Fenja earned her Ph.D. in climate change communication at the Hamburg Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society”.
She discovered her interest in research and science communication while pursuing her master’s degree in “Journalism and Communication Studies” at the University of Hamburg and working as a student and research assistant at the Hans Bredow Institute.
