Katharina Suhr (she/her) is a Researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) since September 2026. She works at the Media Research Methods Lab as part of the collaborative project “Systematic Observation of New Auditive Risks” (SONAR), which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR).
Katharina completed an apprenticeship a specialist in media and information management (library specialization) at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) in Bonn and participated in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals.
She subsequently pursued a bachelor’s degree in Information Management at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hannover and a master’s degree in Computational Linguistics at the University of Stuttgart. During her master’s studies, she developed a particular interest in working with topics related to the social sciences. She wrote her master’s thesis on the analysis of gender-inclusive language usage on the English-language version of wikiHow.com. After spending two years working as a software developer, she has now focused her efforts on research into the spread of disinformation, misinformation, and malinformation.
