35th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence

  • Date: 15.08.26
  • Location: Bremen
  • Time: 09:00 h

Two researchers from the HBI are participating in the 35th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI-ECAI 2026):

Smita Bhattacharya will present her research on AI-mediated deliberation and consensus-building at the “Augmented Democracies (AuDe)” workshop.

Tetyana Turiy will present a talk and a poster on the topic of “Human-Centred AI”. In this presentation, Tet will discuss a study on discrimination in recruitment processes involving artificial intelligence.

The study examines whether AI systems that automatically evaluate applications disadvantage individuals based on characteristics such as gender or origin. To accomplish this, the researchers developed a new testing method and demonstrated discriminatory decisions in all six examined language models. This new method proved particularly effective in identifying complex forms of discrimination.
