Vincent Hofmann Garcia has successfully defended his dissertation on the topic “Diversity in Broadcasting—Concept and Conceptions of a Key Constitutional Term.” We extend our warmest congratulations!
The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schulz and Prof. Dr. Marion Albers; the defense took place on October 28, 2026, at the HBI.
In his dissertation, Vincent Hofmann Garcia examines how the Federal Constitutional Court applies the concept of diversity to its broadcasting decisions. Alongside a thorough analysis of the court’s rulings, the dissertation builds upon the interdisciplinary tradition of the HBI by contrasting the court’s legal reasoning with selected communication studies theories to critically examine the underlying assumptions about how public communication functions.
