Dr. Sascha Hölig

Dr. Sascha Hölig

Dr Sascha Hölig has been a senior researcher at the Hans-Bredow-Institut since 2013. His main research interests lie in the area of media usage in new media environments, information repertoires, empirical research methods and scientific communication.

Sascha Hölig completed his undergraduate degree (Magister) in media and communication, sociology and philosophy at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, including a semester abroad at the International School of Social Science at the University of Tampere, Finland. He pursued his PhD from 2007 until 2011 at the Institute for Media and Communication at the University of Hamburg whilst working as a research assistant for Prof. Dr. Uwe Hasebrink, chair of empirical communication studies. In his PhD thesis Sascha Hölig identified information-oriented communication modes in the Internet.

After receiving his doctoral degree, Sascha Hölig became a research assistant at the Institute of Communication and Media Culture at the Leuphana University Lüneburg. Here, he also worked as senior coordinator of the Leuphana teaching evaluation in 2012 before transferring to the Hans-Bredow-Institut.

Sascha Hölig is currently a member of the German Association for Communication (DGPuK), the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) and the "German Representative" of their young scholars network.
He is also a member of COST Action IS0906 "Transforming Audiences, Transforming Societies" and of the Research Center for Media & Communication, which is a joint research centre of the University of Hamburg and the Hans-Bredow-Institut.
