Verena Albert is a junior researcher at the HBI. Her focus is on the changing journalism-audience relationship.
She is currently working on the project “What Journalists want and what they ought to do – The Transformation of the Journalism/Audience-Relationship and ist Relevance for Social Cohesion“ within the context of the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC). In this project, she examines the question of what ideas and expectations journalists in Germany have regarding the importance of their work for social cohesion and to what extent the expectations and self-images of journalists match the demands that citizens place on them. Her dissertation project focuses on constructive journalism.
Verena Albert studied communication science at the University of Münster. During her studies, she worked as a student assistant at the Institute of Communication Science in the areas of course planning, data collection and data analysis.
She represents the interests of doctoral students at the Institute together as the elected spokesperson together with Martin Fertmann.
