Magdalena Stratmann joined the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) as a junior researcher in May 2022. In Research Program 2 “Regulatory Structures and the Emergence of Rules in Online Spaces” she works in the project Informing Regulatory Reasoning on Algorithmic Systems in Societal Communication with STEAM – The Socio-Technical Ecosystem Architecture Method (STEAM).
After her legal studies with a focus on information, telecommunication and media law at the University of Münster, she completed the interdisciplinary master program “International Politics and International Law” at the University of Kiel.
As part of her subsequent legal clerkship, she spent her administrative station at the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Digitalization focusing in particular on the regulation of the use of artificial intelligence in public administration. She spent her elective station at the Media Policy Unit of the State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein, where she was particularly concerned with issues of future media regulation.
