As part of the Medien Impuls Symposium, Dr. Stephan Dreyer will give a presentation on “AI Systems and Media Use among Young People: Regulating Risks and Protection Measures.” Later in the event, he will discuss youth media protection in the context of the digital world, social responsibility, and educational practice with Prof. Dr. Friederike Siller of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. The discussion will focus on the three pillars of children’s rights: protection, empowerment, and participation.
Teresa Sickert will moderate the conversation.
The presentation “KI-Systeme und Mediennutzung junger Menschen: Regulierung von Risiken und Schutzmöglichkeiten” [AI Systems and Media Use among Young People: Regulating Risks and Protection Measures] as well as the whole event will be held in German.
About the Event
Artificial intelligence is no longer a futuristic concept; it’s a part of children’s and young people’s everyday lives. Whether it’s a personalized learning bot, a creative tool, or an AI-driven social media feed, the question is no longer if young people use AI but how they use it. This raises new questions about protecting youth media: How can we capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks? What responsibilities do policymakers, businesses, educational institutions, media educators, and parents have?
